Diana Syrse is an award-winning composer and singer born in Mexico whose work expands the expressive and conceptual scope of contemporary music and opera. With more than one hundred works to her name, she stands out for creating bold, emotionally charged, and intellectually grounded sound worlds. Her music explores transformation, identity, migration, and memory, questioning established hierarchies and proposing new ways of listening and relating through sound. Syrse has received commissions from the Staatsoper Hamburg, Opéra National de Montpellier, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, and has been composer-in-residence in more than fifteen opera and music theatre productions in Germany. Winner of the 2024 Fedora Audience Prize, she holds two master’s degrees and a doctorate in composition. Published by Ricordi, Syrse is recognized for her ability to unite complexity and emotion in a language that challenges and reimagines the future of contemporary opera.
