George is the Producing Artistic Director of Chicago Fringe Opera, described by the Chicago Tribune as “the city’s alt-opera company.” His directing work for the company includes A Christmas Carol, La Jetée, and The Rosina Project, a hip-hop adaptation of The Barber of Seville. He has also directed productions, digital works, and scenes with Catapult Opera, Opera Festival of Chicago, Chicago Dramatists, Chicago Sinfonietta, Pittsburgh Opera, the Bay View Music Festival, Chicago Folks Operetta, Wolf Trap Opera, and Chautauqua Opera.


George is Theatre Department Chair and Artistic Director of Opera at North Park University and teaches at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music. He has previously taught at DePaul University and Roosevelt University/CCPA. He is the executive producer of Opera Box Score, a weekly opera talk show available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and WNUR 89.3 FM.


His awards include a German Chancellor Fellowship, the National Opera Association award, and the 2022 Aladerri International Film Festival Best Music Video Award. He holds an MFA from Northwestern and a BA from Yale.
