Mauro Calcagno teaches Historical Musicology and Italian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He received his Ph.D. from Yale University and has taught at Harvard and Stony Brook University. His research centers on opera studies, early modern music and poetry, performance studies, and digital humanities. His publications include the book "From Madrigal to Opera: Monteverdi's Staging of the Self,” published by the University of California Press, as well as forthcoming articles on Romeo Castellucci, Robert Wilson, and The Wooster Group.
