ALEXIA PENIGUEL
Dramatic Writer, Guildhall Junior Fellow
Alexia Peniguel is a dramatic writer based between London and Berlin. She recently finished her MA in Opera Making and Writing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has been awarded a Junior Fellowship for 2024-25 to research international relations in opera with a focus on Europe and the UK. Her interest is in initiating and building connections between opera organisations, production houses and educational institutions in different countries to encourage the development of new cross-cultural work and possibilities for co-productions. Alexia has a background in music and has worked for the last twenty years as a songwriter, performer, producer and lyricist.
"I’m looking forward to meeting a wide range of practitioners in the field and hearing their views on what international collaboration might look like. Drawing from my experience as a recent graduate of the Guildhall Opera Making and Writing MA program, I’m also interested in looking at how teaching opera changes it in a broader sense outside the classroom, how collaboration in an educational environment can be carried through into the professional world, and what new methods modern collaboration can offer traditional libretto writing and composition."
