Christoph Altstaedt works as a freelance conductor, teacher, and doctor. In addition to his conducting activities at opera houses such as the Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera and Opera North as well as at festivals such as Glyndebourne and Savonlinna, he enjoys an extensive symphonic career working with the Royal Philharmonic London, the CBSO, the Toronto Symphony a.o. He is particularly committed to working with young talents and enjoys a regular collaboration with the National Youth Orchestra of Germany (BJO). He teaches at the HfMdK Frankfurt and at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He also works as an anaesthetist on an intensive care unit.
